Organic Media?

A niggling (probably not very original!) thought keeps coming to me lately with regards to social media: maybe the types of social media with a more ‘synthetic’ form damage the mind, much like over-processed, mass-produced food is no good for the body?

I saw snippets of a tv programme a while ago looking into the diets of the people who were healthiest — and longest living — in the world and the common theme (although the diets were very different) was the diet of natural and non-processed food.

Perhaps the rising popularity of podcasts in the last years has something to do with the more ‘natural’ quality to this type of media, they may be more in keeping with our long story-telling evolution and will prove, along with reading novels, the mind’s equivalent of organic natural food or our five daily veg?
